SLEDGING IS A GREAT ACTIVITY IN WINTER.
It’s tons of fun and it doesn’t require many special skills or equipment other than a sledge and a helmet. A good place to go sledging is anywhere there’s snow and a hillside, then all you need to do is sit down and enjoy the ride!
TOP TIPS
You can go quite fast even on a gentle slope – so start small till you master the art of steering and stopping!
Wrap up warm
When you get home change out of your wet clothes and enjoy a hot drink to warm you up.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A sledge
A hill, covered in lots of snow
Warm clothing, to protect you from the harsh weather
Boots, so your feet don’t get so wet and so you don’t slip as easy
Make sure you go with an adult, to supervise you
RISKY BUSINESS
Don’t go down hills near any roads or dangerous obstacles – you could get injured!
Try to pick a quiet hill so there’s less chance of crashing into other people
Look where you’re going!
Don’t stay out too long – it’s cold out there.
